Hello there!

My name is Roman and I’m currently working as a product designer at the Royal Bank of Canada Investor Services (RBC IS).

I love critically thinking through problems and determining the best approach to solving them through research and experimentation.

01 // My Background

I graduated from the Global Business and Digital Arts program at the University of Waterloo with a focus on user experience design. During my time in the program, three of my projects were featured in the annual Stratford Campus Project Showcase at the University of Waterloo.

Over the summer of 2019, I worked at RBC Amplify as a UX/UI designer where our team was tasked with discovering and developing a solution addressing a problem area within Market Risk. We pitched the project to senior executives with 20 other teams at RBC's Amp Expo and won the "Most Disruptive Solution" award and was granted a patent in December 2022.

While in RBC IS' Graduate Rotational Program, I became more well rounded, by understanding all of the different elements of how a business works. This allowed me to learn and practice product ownership, web development, and data analysis.

In my current role, I’m working on the portal redesign for RBC IS, digitizing cumbersome manual processes, and enhancing the experience of existing solutions to better support our users. I also received the RBC IS Q1 2024 Performance Award for my "valuable contributions, innovative spirit, and dedication to client experience excellence."

When I have some down time in my role I like to assist my community. I’ve supported the RBC Amplify program as a Creative Mentor for 2 years, created graphics to promote the various charity events being hosted at the RBC Employee Giving Campaign, conducted lunch and learns about UX design, and organized several game lunches and an on-site activity day for my broader team of 30 people.

02 // On a Less Serious Note...

When I'm not working, I like to unwind by playing video games with my friends or catching up on the latest Star Wars content.

When I have more time on my hands, you'll find me building jigsaw puzzles, expanding my Lego collection, and traveling around the world.
